On the Move Again!

Unfortunately, one of the downsides to renting a home is that you run the risk of it being sold on you.  Well, that's what has happened to me.  I was only in this house for 9 weeks when the landlord decided to sell it and, wouldn't you know it, it sold in about a week and to people who want to move in.  So even though I have a 12 month lease I've decided to leave now and get settled somewhere else rather than leaving it until the end of the year close to Christmas.  Yesterday I found a new place and I'll be moving in a few weeks.  So my blog will suffer again I'm afraid.  I'll try to get a little bit done but eventually all my scrapping gear has to be packed!  So if you don't see me much (if at all) for a while, I apologise!

Happy Birthday Mum

Happy Birthday to my Mum for today.  Here's the card I'm giving her today - another one I made recently (it's a very busy time of year for birthdays as I've mentioned before).

The sentiment is A-muse, the butterfly is We R Memory Keepers.  I cut the label out with a Spellbinder die and scalloped the book paper with an EK Success corner rounder.  I even did some colouring with some Copic pens I borrowed from my kind friend, Annette. I absolutely love this watermelon colour!

I covered a notebook to give to her using the American Crafts "Dear Lizzie"adhesive backed fabric.  This fabric is so easy to use and scrumptious.

The binding is the fabric as well- they co-ordinate so well together!  I used a Making Memories label holder, which I stuck on using Dimensional Magic.  My Little Shoebox alphabet stickers are such a handy size for many projects.

I stuck some jac paper to a pretty spot paper and stuck it on the inside of the covers. Before sticking it down I attached pieces of ribbon under the jac paper before I stuck it down.  If you've never used jac paper before it comes in A4 size and is a double-sided sticky paper.

Get Well Soon

Along my current butterfly card theme I made a card for my sister who's having an operation today.

I punched the butterflies with an EK Success punch (layer lots for a great effect - at least 4, preferably 6) out of an old dictionary I bought at a second book shop a little while back.  The funny thing is when I went to primary school I had exactly the same dictionary but I can't bear to rip mine apart so I bought another!  Mine is still in very good condition and still has my father's writing along the side with my name and school!

The sentiment is stamped using a Hero Arts unmounted set which has a sentiment for every occasion.  It's a great set to have.

My Quilted Throw

I'm so excited to  have my first layout in the March/April Creating Keepsakes mag  -  they mentioned me in their blog here.

This is what I have been spending a fair bit of time on over the last couple of months..

I just decided on a whim to cut up my scraps and make this for my bed.  I only had to buy 1 of the fabrics and the backing - the rest were from my stash.  The buttons were a mix of old and new.  The new are Jenni Bowlin - love these buttons so much!  The old are from my Nanna's and Mum's stashes I managed to get over the years.  The doilies are from sweet vintage.

I had so much fun making this but am glad to be able to get back to scrapping again - it will always be my favourite hobby!

I bought the binding ready made and a green and white spot for the back..

Sorry it's a bit crushed I've now noticed!

Busy Making Cards

I have so many birthdays coming up I've been spending time making cards (using lots of butterflies!)

I punched the butterflies using the new My Mind's Eye papers I got the other day - they are definitely one of my favourites.

The sentiment is an American Crafts, Dear Lizzie unmounted - love this font.

Storage Idea

I bought this at an Op Shop for $3 not knowing what I was going to use it for.

After thinking about it for a little while I came up with this idea to put it to good use -

All of my pages that I've planned and put into paper holders I'm going to store in my new "el cheapo" magazine holder!

Chair Layout

I was so proud of my cute bedroom chair I restored I decided to scrapbook it.

The cute strips of paper are Making Memories; the circle is an old Pink Paislee one I've had for ages.  I made the flower and the flower centre out of the fabric I covered the chair in and added some hot pink chenille also (courtesy of my friend Gail).  Using pinking shears on the flower edge tied it in with the circle.

For once I didn't take forever to do a layout - I just went with the flow!

My Cute Vintage Lamp

Ahhh I love a good Op Shop find!  I bought this lamp for $6 the weekend before last and I'm in LOVE!

It's so cute -it makes me smile every time I look at it.  I know it may not appeal to everyone but it does to me.

Now to put it on my gorgeous lemon dressing table..

Looks perfect I think!

A Butterfly Canvas

I did a canvas when I was scrapping at Blossie's recently. I wanted to use the colours in my bedroom - I had a perfect place to hang it.  I wanted it above my new dressing table!

I stamped some butterflies in watermelon coloured ink onto patterned paper and cut them out.  A couple I punched out of patterned paper also.

I stamped some swirls in the watermelon ink onto Bazzill before adhering butterflies.  I just loved the green and white daisy paper so I used it for a border to finish the edges off.

I was actually recycling a canvas used previously so the sides were already painted - it just so happened they were green so it was just perfect - less work!
